Fantastic Fourth!

We had such a great 4th of July celebration this year. It was everything a holiday celebrating America ought to be; fried chicken, fireworks, and fun. We started out with the parade, of course. The bikes and strollers were all decked out the night before.

Rory handled her tricycle pretty well, and didn't lag too much. Maisie and Dany shot off like rockets (pun intended), and we didn't see them until we got to the breakfast where they'd met up with some of their friends. While we were hanging around the park after eating, Dad took Finny for a little ride of his own.

And then he got some snuggles with Uncle Kevy.

I realized the night before that I'd inadvertently coordinated our family's shirts, so I had to get a picture of us all together.

That's one good lookin' family if you ask me!

Next we headed home to begin the water fun. This year, in anticipation of the day, I'd purchased a Slip n' Slide with a limbo bar. The kids had a GREAT time, and kept going over and over, lowering it, raising it, trying it forward, backward, with a spin, a twist, you name it. It was such fun to watch.

I called my parents to tell them they had to come see this, and when Grandpa arrived, he decided he needed to try the slide himself, fully clothed.

Such a good Grandpa :). Finn slept through most of this, but when he woke up, he was content to watch with me for awhile.

Then he decided he needed to get in on the fun.

I also tracked down some Bomb Pops, because the only Popsicles you can eat on the 4th of July are red, white, and blue ones. Millie was a particular fan.

Later that night, we went to Brad and Sara's for the traditional holiday meal and outdoor movie. This year we watched A Series of Unfortunate Events. Not a particularly patriotic movie, but fun, nonetheless. Little Lucy enjoyed grabbing ice out of the bucket and would sit there holding it, despite how chilly it made her.

The kids were exhausted by the time the movie finished, especially as we stopped it in the middle to do fireworks. It was a fun-filled, seriously awesome day. Hope you all enjoyed yours as well!
