This past Memorial Day weekend was our glorious return to the property, now formally known as Rogers Hollow. Being as I was great with child for most of last summer, Teag and I never managed to make it up there last year. As such we were anxious to take advantage of the long weekend as well as to take out our new trailer for its maiden voyage. Saturday was forecast to be pretty brutal, with rain and thunderstorms throughout the day, but we decided to go anyway, along with several other members of our family. The weather ended up being gorgeous, but VERY cold, especially at night when it would get below freezing. The kids spent most of their time being bundled up in as many layers as we could squeeze them into.
And we all were very grateful for the fact that the trailer had a heater.
But despite the pervasive chill, the kids had an amazing time, as kids always will, when given free reign of their time and their imaginations.
Even Rory had some things to do to keep her happy.
When they got too cold, Grandpa Alfie was always good for a cuddle and a movie.
And in the evening, there were S'mores.
And hanging out around the campfire.
Despite the cold, Rory really seemed to have a good time. She loves being outside, and would smile whenever the wind would blow over her face.
And all three girls were big fans of the trailer, with their own special place to sleep.
Though we would have wished for warmer temperatures, the weekend was a nice one, and we all had a great time. Here's to many more trips this summer!
