Happy Birthday Baby Girl!

Little Rory had her first birthday this past week, and we were so excited to celebrate with our baby girl. This past year has flown by ridiculously fast, and it's amazing to see how much she's changed since that first day. Unfortunately Teag was gone for the entire day, but we decided to celebrate the best we could without him by taking a trip to the zoo, to see baby Zuri. Despite the heat, Rory seemed to enjoy the animals, the outdoors, and the train ride.

After the zoo, I did what any awesome mom would do for her baby's first birthday dinner: treated her to fries and chicken nuggets.

They were obviously a hit :) The day after her birthday, she started standing on her own, and using her little walker toy to traverse the length of the living room, unaided.

It was like once she'd hit the #1 mark she decided she better start walking. She still isn't on her own quite yet, but I think she'll be there before too much longer.

She was quite proud of herself, and spent a lot time at her birthday party a few days later showing off her new skills. She did take some time out to open some presents though.

For her first cake I created an octopus, as we often call her "Squiddy".

A little spooky, but hey, what can I say? She seemed rather overwhelmed when everyone started singing to her, and looked at a complete loss as to what to do with the candle.

Moments later, she was elbow-deep in purple frosting, and not terribly happy about it.

I know she won't remember much about these few days, but hopefully she had a fun time, and we all had a great time celebrating with her. Happy Birthday our big one year old!
