4th of July

Our little family had a great 4th this year. The night before, Meg and I took some time to decorate the kids bike/stroller/scooter for the annual neighborhood parade. I think they turned out pretty snazzy:
We tried to get a nice one of our family, but Dany was having none of it. This is the one taken right before she started to bawl.
Soon after, the crowd took off, and paraded themselves down the Jordan River Parkway. Dany was much happier once we were on the move, and Maisie is always good for a photo op.
After a tasty sausage and pancake breakfast, we headed home. In what seems to be becoming a tradition, we stopped at the park along the way so the girls could have a little fun on the playground. This year the swings were an especially big hit.

That night the Rogers' gathered together for a tasty barbecue, and some cheap fireworks. Check out these two prego's, in their matching 4th of July shirts:
By the time it was dark, both girls were pretty wiped out. They played with some sparklers;

and then were mostly content to just sit and watch the ones being lit by the rest of the neighborhood:

Such a great day, full of fun, good food, and fireworks. I'm thankful I live in a country where we have so much to celebrate, and can do so as we please!
