The Natural History Museum

A few weeks back, we drove to the Natural History Museum up by the U on a Friday afternoon. We had our nephew Grayson with us, and discovered that a museum with five kids is an interesting experience. There wasn't much time wasted on reading the placards or really learning much. It was mostly just flitting from one exhibit to the next, always moving.

Unsurprisingly, the dinosaur exhibits are always popular.

I love the kids Dino impressions, though Maisie's took a fair bit of coaxing. She's getting too "cool" for stuff like this, these days. One particular part of the dinosaur exhibit that was really entertaining was where they had installed a glass floor, with fossils below it. The older kids thought it was really cool, but Finny was very wary of the whole set up.

We'd get him to walk out on it, and then he'd get stranded, not wanting to move one way or the other.

Rory had no such issues.

The older two girls liked the place where they'd created a replica of a dwelling, complete with beds and spots for cooking fires. Not really sure why Maisie chose to assume the vampire coffin pose.

During the time we were visiting, they had a special exhibit on the history of chocolate. I think they must have been pumping the scent into the rooms or something, because instantly all the kids were going on about how hungry they were, and begging for food.

This was the only picture we managed to get of Grayson. He was rather camera shy. On our way out, Maisie found a big chunk of amethyst, and wanted to get a picture, since it's her birthstone.

It was honestly a pretty cool museum, and both Teag and I were impressed with all it had to offer, especially variety, and interactivity. I know the chocolate exhibit is still going on as well, and it's certainly worth a look!
