Roughin' it Like the Pioneers

Well, maybe not exactly like the pioneers. I don't think they had trailers. But we did spend Pioneer Day up at the property! It was the first time we'd been up there this year, and the kids (especially Finn) were bursting at the seams excited to go. You can see the excitement in this next picture.

Grandma had crocheted some water bottle holders, with little pockets for chapstick, for the kids, and they became quite the hot commodity. Finn kept telling Grandma, "I want a water bottle holder and some make up."

Finn has quite the playmate in his cousin Lucy. Despite the fact that he has two boy cousins his age, he and Lucy seem to play together the most; probably because they have similar personalities.

Both Dany and Rory paired up with some of their cousins as well, be it for lizard hunting, meals or games.

Rory also made a good friend in Rich Nelson, a family friend who came up for a few days. He was kind enough to help her with her puzzle.

And Finny charmed yet another lady in Ashley Olsen, who came up with her husband for the weekend as well.

The ladies got in a good game of Philly, and a nice walk around the surrounding properties.

 And the kids all got alternately treated or disgusted when we played the Bean-Boozled Challenge. It's a box of jelly beans that that have two identical-looking colors; one is a safe flavor, the other is something disgusting like dog food, or skunk spray.

They were all good sports in the end, despite how truly disgusting it was.

We had a really fun weekend, and a lot of good memories were made. One cool thing we got to participate in was for our group to sing "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" at the church service that Sunday. Kevin accompanied us on the banjo. Even the kids participated, and seemed to really enjoy themselves. It was a great weekend, made even better by the company.
