Utah Olympic Park

Teag got some tickets to the Utah Olympic Park as a raffle prize at a work picnic. Unlimited passes to the Zip Line, Alpine Slide, and Ropes Courses. We decided to try and make it happen before the summer got too crazy with Girls Camp, and Convention, and school starting, so we went at the end of July. The first place we stopped was full of memorabilia from the Salt Lake 2002 Olympics.

Once we exchanged tickets for wristbands, we headed first to the Alpine Slide. Our three older kids have been to the other one in Park City, the one that has multiple tracks, and loved it. This one only has one track, and we were pretty disappointed to discover they were predicting an hour long wait. Still, we hopped on the lift and hoped for the best.

Turns out we waited more than an hour. All for about 60 seconds of thrill down a mountain.

After our first run, we decided to do the Ropes Course. Finn wasn't big enough to do it, so Teag volunteered to stay back with him, which ended up being a pretty raw deal. Finn didn't handle it well to not be participating in the action. Rory didn't want to go with us at first, and decided to stay and climb the short kid wall.

 But after the three of us got geared up, she decided to join us after all.

This was the "easiest" course, but was still roughly 20 feet above the ground, and required a fair amount of skill for the smaller ones. I was very proud of my girls, especially those with a fear of heights, for completing the course.

 The best part was, once you reach the top, you get to zipline down! And that's no small zipline either!

We stopped for lunch after that, overpaying for average food. But at least we got to watch the skiers flying off the jumps from right next to our table! The kids loved to see the ones who did flips or twists. I wish I'd gotten some pictures of that.

After lunch, Teag went and rode the big zipline with Dany, while Maisie and I took Finn and Rory back to the Alpine Slide for a second round. This time we waited even longer, getting somewhat sunburned while an impatient Finny begged to go home. Lastly, I managed to convince Maisie to ride the big zipline with me.

It was a hot day with minimal shade, but the kids really impressed me with their willingness to be brave and try new and scary things. We stopped at Kneaders to get some smoothies to help us all cool off, and then we picked up some Chinese food on the way home and watched a movie as a family. It was a great day, and a lot of good fun.
