Glory, Glory Hallelujah!

Once we got the carpet scheduled, we seemed to head into mad dash mentality. There always seemed to be one more thing we needed to do to get the living room ready on time. And with the addition of the hallway project, much more work was added, despite how small a space it was. How can that 12 feet of hallway contain five doors!

I dropped everything I could to help Teag paint, mud, sand, fill nail holes, sand some more, paint again... and then sand again when a tiny person decided to leave their mark.

Teag looked not unlike a Ghost of Living Rooms Past, after he finished sanding the ceiling one night.

Our living room looked like a cyclone had recently blown through. And we were exhausted beyond anything I can imagine day after day.

We put the kids to work in any way we could, often by babysitting, or helping with showers for the younger kids. Sometimes with little errands around the house.

And then, miraculously, we were done. The walls were painted. The sills were painted. The trim was installed. And all on time, too.

We loved the color from the minute it went up. It was pleasing, calming even, and made us feel like we'd made a good choice. The night before carpet was to go in, we cleared everything out, and awaited the big payoff. It felt like Christmas when the installer showed up the next afternoon.

Before the day was up, we had lovely, soft, comfortable carpet to enjoy.

We love the way it looks with the paint, and the bright white trim and blinds help to make the room feel so much lighter than before. Myself and all the kids spent many minutes just rolling around on the glorious stuff. We didn't carpet the hallway, but I'll give you a view of that now that it's all but complete. We just need to install a few doorknobs that seem to have wandered off...

So much cleaner and tidier than before. New doors, new paint, new trim all add to a much more updated feel. Even a new doorbell! One of my most favorite features of our living room, however, is my new red front door.

It's red both inside and out, and I love it. It adds that little pop of color to brighten the room, and makes me smile on a regular basis. I'm amazed at all that Teag has done to this room, and how skilled he is with his hands. This room is one we can truly feel at home in now.
